Just as in sales, people need to like you, and trust you BEFORE they will consider buying from you.
But building trust online is just about one of the most difficult things to do, even average telemarketers have a better chance at building trust than 80% of the websites online today.
Here are some things that you can do today to help make sure that your website is pulling its weight in the sales department.
- First and foremost offer something of value to your visitors at no cost. This is usually in the form of useful targeted content. Make sure that your content isn't just sales copy but actually offers some value to your visitors that they can't get anywhere else.
- Use familiar logos on your site. If you have an ecommerce website, if you don't have the VISA, Mastercard and American Express logos plastered all over your site you are losing sales. People identify with familiar images, and when people see credit card logos on your site they know that there is something there for them to buy.
- As mentioned in the Michigan secure ecommerce article, be sure to use logos from Hackersafe or BBBonline (Better Business Bureau Online) if your website qualifys, and if it doesn't fix it so it does.
- Lastly, people LOVE to look at other people. Post some pictures of yourself and your staff. This will help connect your company and your visitors, now you become more than just another faceless wesite.
